The Mixtape by Brittainy C. Cherry

5.0

I started my month out really good. The Mixtape by Brittainy Cherry was an amazing read. I had heard some great things about this book and I am so glad to have experienced this.

Firstly, this book is so relatable. Emery is a single mother doing the best that she could to take care of her daughter Reese. Things are not not the best for Emery but she selflessly made sure Reese was ok even if it meant she went without. This alone resonated with me because I have been in this same situation when I was a single parent. I almost cried just by having the flashbacks alone.

Then we have Oliver. He was definitely someone who had a heart of gold but was bogged down with grief and depression. I loved how his character was written as this is so many people. I too have been in this situation as I lost my mom. So the view from that place was so familiar to me.

Reese was definitely one of my favorites as her child like innocence made this story so pure and enjoyable. It was the Mr. Mitch for me LOL!!

I can’t forget about Abigail and her encouraging words. She was definitely the best thing to happen to all parties involved. I found healing what she said as well.

Emery’s sister Sammy was broken. My heart was definitely aching for her but I can’t lie - I had a love hate relationship with her.

To say I was completely enamored with this story is an understatement. I loved this so much and will always recommend this book. I give this story all the stars and beyond…I LOVED this!!!! Ms. Brittainy..I am going through all of your work because I love how you tell stories. Thank you!!!!!
