it is was an absolute page turner, but the reason why i kept turning the digital pages was mainly in hopes of getting the perspective from a character that wasn't that awful white woman. i was so done with her very soon into it and was not expecting 300+ pages of a liberal ww's 'conflicted feelings'  about stealing the work of a woman of colour. like why couldn't Candice become more prominent halfway to also get her perspective or the perspective of Mrs. Liu or any other South Asian character in the novel, cuz we know how white ppl thing, there was no surprise there. if i had known what i know now, i would have DNF'ed it real quick or would not have even started it.
