It was a recommendation

I'm not a really big fan of this type of books. I find them very obvious and I've got bored with the reading because every single one is practically the same. So I end up read them diagonally.

Anyway, Block Shot it's a story of two people who met in College and reconnect ten years after. What made me read it? The premise of a relationship between a "hot guy" and a "non-normative body woman". Basically, I want to see if the author was portraying Jared (the guy) well enough for me to bite his interest on the "fat girl".

And, as a result, I think that what I didn't like is that Banner (the woman) needed to change her body to love herself, despite of any man. It is fine, don't get me wrong, she did what she needed to do, but the story it's not exactly what I expected it.

She has her ghosts about being the "fat girl" and the idea of someone like Jared wouldn't like her because of her body. And that part was the best, because as a reader you can see that he likes her because what she is, not what she looks like. But I, personally, was expecting that she kept overweight and find love in herself while she is able to recognize that she can be love despite of her body shape.

In any case, the story is good and it has more deepness in it that other stories that I read. I think it's because of the mature on it and the age of the characters.
