When Among Crows
by Veronica Roth
fast-paced
Didn't have many expectations about this book honestly. It was not how I pictured it from what I heard of it and I appreciated the setting and the emphasis on Slavic folklore which I've read about before and find quite fascinating.
I'm not usually a fan of urban fantasy but I must say that here the author was able to create a fitting atmosphere and an interesting setting, though I would have loved to see more.
The characters were interesting but I feel like we didn't see enough of them, I know it's a novella and overall we did get a decent characterization for the length but I wish we saw more about them getting to know each other as they spent so little time together that it's strange they formed this kind of bond.
Overall it was a nice read and might read the next one if I can get it on a subscription or library.
