The Pirate's Booty
by Alex Westmore
When I went into this book all I knew about it was lesbian pirates, and I was immediately enthralled by that idea! The book follows Quinn, a noblewoman, who is pretending to be a man in order to save her friend, who was taken by pirates. Quinn is such an awesome main character. She is extremely likable, and throughout the story she finds herself. The book was more than just a fun adventure, which it definitely was, but it talked about some deep topics, such as a women's place in society during the time. The women in the story, from queens to common folk, were unhappy and trapped in the place society had put them in. The story and time period seemed to be extremely well researched, and was really enjoyable. The dynamic of the crew was really cool to see, and how they had become each others family.
My one problem with this book, is that when people found out that Quinn was actually a woman everyone seemed fine with it. This seemed a little unreasonable to me.
Overall, an awesome read, filled with cool characters, action, and adventure.
