Not So Yours Truly by Clio Evans

dark emotional tense medium-paced

3.0

I was so so nervous about this one and I’m mildly disappointed that my nerves were correct.

Ember is fucking adorable, let’s just get that out of the way. She deserves all the good things.

Lea is hot as fuck and sign me up for an orc mate please.

But where this book fell down for me was Lea and Minni’s relationship. There was no real resolution for me, and it was truly kind of heartbreaking. Lea has so much hurt from her previous relationship with Minni that I don’t feel was resolved at all. It is glossed over, with the barest or apologies and love confessions.
And Lea and Minni never get a scene where they bond. It’s just mentioned at the end that they will.

I think where it’s also disappointing is in all the other books each mate gets a bonding intimate scene. And while I know Lea and Minni had higher stakes, it was really a letdown that they didn’t get one. I honestly can’t remember if they even kiss more than twice.

I will still read the next book of course, and still love Clio Evans’ world building. This book just needed more, more healing, more Lea and Minni.
