A great deal of fun to read, despite some elements not being woven into the story as well as might be hoped. I enjoyed the evolving relationship between Demeter and Steward. Frank and Steve were just plain random, but still fun to encounter as characters. The humans were a bit of an afterthought at times and the very last-minute romance/marriage proposal came out of nowhere. I didn’t dislike anything in particular but it was strange enough that I’m not sure I’d recommend it either, especially because the science-fiction elements were barely explored in-depth beyond spaceship mechanics and sentience.
