The Princess Saves Herself in this One
by Amanda Lovelace
emotional
reflective
medium-paced
The Princess Saves Herself in this One is a really accessible collection which uses fairytale tropes, characters, and imagery to explore some challenging topics like child abuse, self-harm, eating disorders, cancer and grief as well as resilience and self-empowerment with a feminist slant. This may not be high-end literary poetry, but it will speak to many readers and would also make a nice gateway collection for readers intimidated by poetry.
