This was fantastic! An intriguing mystery with high stakes, a terrifying monster, and a great lead. The writing here was surprisingly solid, and it even managed to scare me a couple times, which is VERY hard to do. I do feel like the ending had both too many climaxes and felt too rushed, and because it felt like the author never fully managed to distinguish the cast of Owlets. Also, for a book whose summary mentions that the main character's grandfather was the first Black ranger, that doesn't factor into the plot as much as I would've liked.
