Gale Force by Rachel Caine

3.0

It's like the author forgot what was going on in the previous book. They were dealing with a reversing magnetic shift, but there's no motion of that, or of Joanne being wanted for murder, which was a big plot point in the last book. (And Joanne had no clue how the press knew about wardens when just last book her sister sold the story to the press...)

The media storyline sucked and I didn't like
Spoilerhow they decided to go public about the Wardens.

We start with Joanne and David on vacation where he proposed. I know I'm supposed to care, but I just don't feel their romance. (Or particularly like David) The author obviously realized that Joanne knew nothing about him up to this point because David finally opens up! Unfortunately, most of it happens off page, so we don't actually learn much.

The plotline in this one was strange. It was quite different from the rest of the series. A group of anti Djinn ex wardens are using antimatter. Djinn can't see it so David and the Djinn don't believe it's real. The whole thing was just weird.

I really liked the older earth warden, shame he was barely in it. It also sucked when Joanne was out of commission, but at least her rehab went quickly. I wasn't a fan of all of the wedding planning.

There was this big build up about who the Sentinels were,
Spoilerthen they were led by the bad guy who died in book one.
What a cop out!
SpoilerI mean, the whole plot of book one was about Joanne being wanted for murdering him, so you know there was a body.
It made no sense.

David has just gotten worse and worse. He had several 180 personality changes.
SpoilerFirst he's begging her to marry him, despite everyone being afraid of the consequences. After she says I do, surprise, there are consequences. Then he turns his back on her and leaves. But by the end he's totally changed his mind again.
Facepalm.
