A beautifully written, but profoundly evil book. I am not someone who generally wants my literature moral or anything similar, I love Lautreamont, I love Huysmans, I love Baudelaire, but something about this seemed to evil to finish reading.
Maybe I misunderstood the first story, but a women being tempting, does not make her sudden accidental murder her fault. Which is what this stories inclusion within the collection seems to imply, just couldn't stomach it.
