Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

4.0

What Oliver Twist did not know yet was that the Dodger belonged to a gang of pickpockets and robbers. Nor did he know that the old gentleman referred to, whose name was Fagin, was the ringleader of the gang.

Another of our first edition Ladybird books and this time its an adaptation of a true classic.

Everyone knows Oliver Twist, whether from English lessons at school or from the iconic film adaptations. "Please Sir, I want some more!".

This retelling, making the story more accessible for children, is a great way to introduce a classic. I enjoyed going back to Victorian London and revisiting Oliver's rollercoaster of a childhood. 4 stars.
