Ok I started this review in my notes app while reading, which I NEVER do, but I have *feelings* The author is upfront that pregnancy is the central storyline of this romance book and recognized that it’s a hot button topic in the genre (and in society). Personally, I don’t have any problems with pregnancy tropes, but I have to be honest that I really had a hard time listening to our protagonist, Win and her angst about the relationship between herself, her child, and her child’s father Bo. She seemed *determined* to misread Bo’s CLEAR attraction to her and his CLEAR desire for a more substantial romantic relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I loved watching Win and Bo fall in love. But I think what rubbed me the wrong way is the miscommunication between them seemed a little contrived, especially when the stakes were so high. They had enough going on in their relationship with the pregnancy and their plans to co-parent without adding in Win’s completely nonsensical yet resolute belief that Bo was still in love with his ex. Win and Bo had enough insecurities to work through (individually and together) that we really didn’t need that additional misunderstanding. It really really drove me nuts, especially when Bo basically told her he loved her from nearly the beginning ugh! *shakes fist* All that aside, I did really enjoy the banter and chemistry between Win and Bo. I mean, come on! A hot, smart, funny guy who plays Dungeons and Dragons and likes taking care of people!?!? Be still my beating heart! Bonam-Young once again proves that her romance novels are realistic, emotional, and sweet. Definitely worth reading!
