X: A Novel by Kekla Magoon, Ilyasah Shabazz
4.0

I got this book randomly from the library thinking that I would like to read more about Malcolm X. I know general information about him, but this book made me want to read more about him.

The story follows Malcolm from around 10 years old to his imprisonment in 1946. He is the narrator and it was an interesting experience for me because I am not the biggest fan of Malcolm and how he was thinking at the time. The book presented the society so good and I found it so interesting.

Generally the book made me research so many things: how people were dressing at that time, how black people were speaking, Harlem, Malcolm X. From this point of view, this historical fiction was great at making me want to find out more. This is one of the reasons I read historical fiction.
