This is an intriguing reimagining of Alice in Wonderland. Alyss Heart's world is darker and more violent than the more commonly known Wonderland, and there are a lot of politics, war, and scheming to navigate. The takes on the Mad Hatter, the caterpillars, and the out of control Queen of Hearts (Aunt Redd) are all well suited for this new vision of Wonderland. The interaction between our world and Wonderland, even more clearly epitomized by the timeline provided near the end of the book, was a nice addition to the read too.
