My Favorite Mistake
by Chelsea M. Cameron
nothing to see here, folks.
Literally, nothing to see. Don't bother. (also, the cover art...blech.)
My Favorite Mistake has a pretty obvious premise behind it, as in we all know what's going to happen, mmkay? So its not like I was expecting a Pulitzer worthy novel or anything. But it still could have been crafted so much better. New Adult novels get a lot of bad credit, but every once in awhile there's one book or one author that really stands out. This was not one of them.
Taylor in the beginning and through the middle was a very angry character, and it got boring, okay? Her constant fighting with Hunter, her snappy remarks, and general attitude were just not appealing. There were a lot of funny moments, but overall her POV got old.
Because of her traumatic past she acts this way, but there was such a buildup and emphasis on this past that when it finally was revealed it was pretty much a flatline moment. Don't get me wrong, what happened to her and her sister is seriously heavy, but I think revealing to the readers at the beginning would have helped and made a lot more sense.
By the time her and Hunter get together, these two do a complete personality 180. Seriously, it's like they have brain transplants and I had to suffer through the rest of it.
I will not be picking up book #2.
