The Becoming of Noah Shaw by Michelle Hodkin

1.0

What did I think of this book? Ohhhhh boy
So this completely ruined the series. The series should've stopped when the Mara trilogy stopped. The Mara trilogy was well written, coherent, and it was wrapped up and ended nicely. This book completely undoes allllllll of that. This series, I had to reread multiple chunks because it was all over the place and didn’t make sense/totally incoherent.

Mara was written completely different than she was in the original trilogy. On some level that's to be expected from the fact that the character went through traumas, but also because this book is from another person's POV. However, this is ridiculous. It's not like subtle changes, it's like she's a completely different person. Noah is also completely different. It's like this book was trying to hard to make Noah keep up his "I don't care about anything" personality, even though you know from the first series that he does care about some things.

To me this book absolutely dragged on. It took forever in between reading sessions to even want to pick the book back up. Towards the end I was just reading it to get it the f*ck finished so I didn't leave it partially read. This book felt rushed and totally out of place compared to the first series. The last handful of chapters were totally incoherent and I had to reread a couple of them a few times before I gave up trying to figure out what was supposed to be happening. The ending was dumb in my opinion. I don't want to spoil anything, but it was something that was so out of left field that it made absolutely Z E R O sense. Most books will throw something wild at you at the end of a book, but normally that things at least makes sense and sometimes was often hinted at through out the book. Or, upon rereading you can see where that would come into play and it fits. This ending is none of those things.

TDLR;
This ruined the overall series and I will not be continuing this trilogy
