Can human beings coexist with a stronger species?
I loved the countless philosophical questions this novel raised. The lulling tone of this sleepy English novel reminded me of Ari Aster’s film Midsommar; the scene is bright and sunny but you feel the inevitability of something dark and sinister. It’s not a question of IF terror will strike, but when.
I loved the dialogue-heavy writing. It was an interesting choice to keep the readers, and even the narrator, a few degrees separate from the action.

Characters and events did not play out like I thought they would. The only thing I could predict was the ending.
