What Lies Beyond the Veil by Harper L. Woods
2.0

Plot or Character Driven: N/A
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

It's surprising that Woods has 15 other books under her belt, and this one was so poorly written. It was repetitive, and while the lore of the world was interesting enough to get me to the 200pg mark, it wasn't fleshed out enough to make sense, except that there are different versions of the history, depending upon which group was asked. I also guessed the big secret before it was revealed, although maybe it isn't that much of a secret? The sex scenes were ok, but also repetitive, and while there were big plot events in the story, the characters' motivations, thoughts and feelings were inconsistent & wishy-washy. Unfortunately, I'm only vaguely tempted by the 2nd & 3rd books,
just to see if other gods show up, and how. But the poor writing is going to keep me away, unless I'm supremely bored one day or find them very much on sale.
Also- Woods missed a cliffhanger by not having Caelum brag about whether their mate bond was finalized or not
