A Time of Courage
by John Gwynne
A masterful and epic conclusion. A Time of Courage is the perfect finale to the Banished Lands saga, pulling the Of Blood and Bone trilogy together and sticking the landing with absolute precision. This book quickly earned its spot on my favorites list. The last 150-200 pages consumed me—John Gwynne knows how to end a series on a high note.
Gwynne has outdone himself with this one. A Time of Courage improves on the first two books of this trilogy in every way. The entire cast of characters converges, and the situation for our heroes becomes increasingly dire. The stakes are enormous. Rivals clash, duels we’ve been eagerly anticipating are fought, battles are waged, and emotional twists and turns keep the excitement levels high. It’s all masterfully executed in a conclusion that’s both satisfying and impactful. This is another job well done by an author who continues to prove he’s one of the best in the genre.
I can’t help but pray that The Faithful and the Fallen and Of Blood and Bone are adapted for the big screen. These seven books, culminating in this epic finale, would make a jaw-dropping television series. My time in the Banished Lands has been unforgettable, and I’m grateful that John Gwynne decided to pick up his pen and take us on this journey. I had an absolute blast and hope to one day reread these books. From Corban and Storm to Drem and Friend, what an incredible journey full of TRUTH AND COURAGE!
