A Change In Tide
by Freya Barker
I adore this book. The author has done an amazing job with this book. It is very well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. It kept me captivated from the first page through the last. She also does a wonderful job portraying the characters, their emotions and the experiences they go through.
I love the characters. Mia lives in a small cottage by a lake in Canada. She lives mostly off the grid with very little human interaction. She cherishes her sanctuary. She suffers from PTSD and agoraphobia. She has a very small comfort zone and when outside that zone, a panic attack is sure to follow.
Jared is a former hockey star. After a career ending injury, he is looking for a little peace and solitude. Thus far in life, he is used to getting what he wants and having someone deal with everything else for him. No matter what though, he is loyal and loves wholeheartedly. He is fiercely protective of those he cares about and family means everything to him.
Although Jordy is more of a secondary character I love her. She is Jared's younger sister. She is full of sass and spunk and I can't help but laugh at way her and Jared pick on each other. She has been through a lot but is still standing. Although recent events have made her self conscious and second guess herself, she is a wonderful sister, friend and an incredible mother.
Each of these characters have faced life altering events. While the situations, circumstances and reactions are different, they are all good examples that when your life as you know it is over, doesn't mean that your life has to be over. There are other things that can give your life meaning. As long as you don't give up, life can be just as good, just in a different way. Sometimes when there is a change in tide, you just have to go with the flow.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy romance books and a second chance at life. I look forward to seeing what the next book will be. Review for Mommy's Naughty Playground.
