Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez
5.0
I haven't been this fucked up by a book in a while. My gosh. I spent so many moments bawling and crying and tearing up. I'm happy that I finished this one at home and not on the train. There are so many passages that I highlighted. SO much of this story resonated with me and all the similar emotions I've been feeling. I truly believe it is possible to find someone who feels so perfect for you and this broke me. I really hope I can find something like what Justin and Emma had. I truly thought that I wasn't an Abby Jimenez fan but this book completely changed my point of view. I loved having two characters that were put through the wringer in life, but they still were able to find positivity and lightness in life. It was so refreshing to have a female lead who didn't spend all her time being angry and surly to those around her. Sure, there were moments where Emma wasn't great but those moments felt so justified knowing what she went through in life. I really believe their happy ever after will last forever. Definitely one of my top books this year. My only negative was that I felt a little frustrated by the relationship with Emma and her mother and I felt like about 20-30% into the story I felt a little bit bored and like the plot was progressing a little too slow. I also wished that they had kissed just a little bit earlier - just a preference thing.
