Empire of Silence
by Christopher Ruocchio
The Sun-Eater series starting off seems like a lot. It might just be my reading style, but I found the descriptions in this book were sometimes waaay over the top. Or a metaphor would be thrown out in a place that I felt unnecessary.
The world building was expansive, there’s a lot to take in and learn about. I felt sometimes I had to search for the plot through the exposition.
That all being said, the plot was definitely there, the main character is dynamic, some of the secondary characters felt strong as well, but I wanted more of a connection to them.
I will keep reading the series as I’m told it’s life-changing. I can kind of see a direction it could go to achieve that.. we’ll see?
