The writing is fun, the battle scenes are great, I’d die for the Valkyries and the Emerie/Gwyn/Nesta friendship, and Nesta herself is a great protagonist. However *SPOILERS AHEAD*
Sarah J Maas really needs to research how to write about mental health properly. Huge TWs around the way the MFC is treated, including a horrendously botched intervention scene, forced confinement and one character literally telling a suicidal protagonist shes a “waste of life”. I really enjoyed the plot and action of this but feel troubled about someone with Nesta’s issues reading it when the behaviour of the “helpful” other characters is deemed not just acceptable, but like they’re doing her a favour.
