The first third of this book is hard to get through. But once you get to the first twist it really picks up.
I loved how Nellie and Vanessa ended up being the same character. I think the dual (yet singular) POV really illustrated domestic abuse in such an interesting, clever way. I knew the husband was going to be bad news, but seeing it all unfold was eerie. The gaslighting and complexity of character within domestic abuse was done perfectly. Also the very last twist with Emma wasn’t one I saw coming but I liked that it brought everything together.
