The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

Mistborn 1 - The Final Empire.

This is a safe book, so to say. There isn't much in the book that will surprise you or scar you in any way. And that's not a bad thing. But there isn't much that you will remember with fondness. The characters are just that. Plain and simple, not boring. But just plan. I'd equate reading this book with eating a meal that is balanced, in good proportions, with no surprising elements and nothing that will wake you up groaning at nights.

It's a safe book. But it works where it is supposed to work. Moderate violence and no sex. Plenty of good quotes though. Considering this is Sanderson's first book of sorts, I'm hoping the next books will up the ante in all departments.

Reading this makes me want to read something filthy and violent like Abercrombie or RK Morgan.
