The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune

adventurous emotional funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted fast-paced

5.0

Where do I even begin with this book? Klune has created something so special and unique and unlike anything I’ve ever read before with this story. I never would have guessed I needed a queer coming of age story about a fanboy with ADHD but it’s like this book filled an empty space in my heart that was just waiting for this beautiful and hilarious story to fill it. Because that’s what reading this book felt like, I didn’t know I had this missing piece of me until this book came along and I felt whole again. Klune has such a wonderful gift for writing the most amazing and inclusive stories I have ever read before and he has quickly shot to the top of my favourite authors list. Now my mushy feelings about this book aside, this book is so sarcastic and snarky and witty and downright hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud and cackling so many times that I lost count, the humour is just so on point. I could rattle on about this book forever, it made me feel things and laugh unlike any other book has before and just soothed my soul in ways I didn’t even know how to begin to explain.
