I must admit that I started this book with trepidation as I wasn't too sure what to expect. I'm not a big fan of books based on other books (especially completed sets) as I feel it most often takes away from the original series.[return][return]I'm happy to report that this was not the case with The Tales of Beedle the Bard! These are no more than "stories" as would be told to children born and raised in the magical world of Harry Potter. And, in their simplicity and "morals", they were fun and entertaining :) In fact, there are one or two in there that I could see myself reading aloud to my children at their bedtimes.[return][return]The "addition" of Dumbledore's notes on each story (and JKR's abridged notes) did not detract or distract from each story or the book as a whole.[return][return]Congratulations, JKR. You managed to pleasantly surprise me! :)
