Demon Copperhead
by Barbara Kingsolver
I read David Copperfield again (after about 50 years). I'm glad I did that, because it enriched my reading of this book, but also because I really, really got into David Copperfield. Anyway, this book resets DC in Appalachia and does a masterful job of exposing the stereotypes that surround mountain people, and poor people in general. I recommend this one highly. Demon is an engaging narrator whose intelligence, honesty, and wit kept me enthralled.
