Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica
5.0
I get that the ending will not be for everyone, it would not be inaccurate to describe it as anticlimactic but it just worked for me!
At first I was really hesitant as the writing in first person left me feeling at a distance. Like someone was telling me a story rather then I was inside the characters head... but I quickly got used to the feeling of distance I had from the characters
I loved this story, it played right into my anxiety.
I binged this book and loved every second of it. I loved when the characters were smart, I loved when they made the stupidest decisions, I loved when a plot convenience got them out of trouble only for it to quickly get them back into trouble.
I loved the alternating POV chapters, I loved how we would read about one character experiencing the results of another characters actions (sometimes before we got the chapter on them actually doing the thing)
I loved these characters!
There are ZERO things I would change about this book even through I know it wont be for everyone.
A main complaint I see is that we spend the entire book building up to learn the truth about what happened, only for the conclusion to essentially happen off page and we just jump to the epilogue... but for me the build up was the anxiety ridden portion, all I wanted was the build up, I didn't need to see the fall out.
