Anarchy by Jaymin Eve, Leia Stone

Did not finish book.
I just can't with these books anymore.

Besides everything wrong with the first book, which I could sort of overlook because there was potential the world building is frustratingly imprecise sometimes. Up until 3 hours into this SECOND book I had thought it took place in an alternative universe but in our time, more or less. Then, suddenly, there are numerous apparently clear color photographs of an event that supposedly took place 200 years ago according to the first book. Either the authors forgot how long ago it supposedly took place, or something else is off. Either way, this sort of thing is something that seriously throws me off when I'm trying to work out how this world works.

Also, the audiobook narrator is the incredibly irritating Dara Rosenberg, who does not sound like a badass 20-something but an early menopausal lady constantly at the edge of tears. Her voice has been part of previous DNFs for me, but I've also gotten through some things she's read so it's not enough on its own. She also makes a lot of mistakes, some of which are obvious from context, like "television walking", some of which might explain the weirdness of this whole thing. Some of which are just mispronouncing words making them difficult to interpret. Maybe everything confusing about these books is just Dara not reading them correctly, but I doubt it.
