P.S. I Still Love You
by Jenny Han
Okay, time to write a proper review for this one. Let's start with Lara Jean; oh my sweet Lara Jean. So much potential, such bad delivery, such annoying narration. It wasn't like she would fluctuate between whiny 5 year old drama queen to actual 16 year old girl; she would be stuck on the former for so long I keep forgetting how old she really is. Don't get me wrong, the first book was great, I flew through it in a couple of hours and I absolutely enjoyed it. But this sequel was so off to me I didn't even know what Han intended in this sequel.
There was no Josh, it was like he never existed, like he wasn't such a big part of the Song girls' lives and our protagonist's. John was one of the best characters in the book and I still felt like things ended too quickly and completely unresolved, but I like how Han maintained John's characteristics throughout the book. We didn't have an immediate abrupt change in him so that was a nice flow and it actually made me like John even more. I don't know what Peter was in this. I felt so bad for him but at the same time I just didn't know if I cared enough anymore.
It's titled as "P.S I Still Love You" but there were too many unnecessary scenes, unnecessary details narrated by LJ, and it was too dramatic I couldn't even enjoy it. There were parts where I got completely bored and I just wanted to give up on it altogether.
I'm realizing this review is the harshest I've ever sounded in a while but it bothered me because I wanted to see some form of growth in Lara Jean and Peter rather than the spew of drama we saw that seemed absolutely annoying. I still liked this book overall, with Kitty and John being my favorite characters, but I felt like there were so many things missing that could've been the cherry on top for this series.
