A Perfect Evil by Alex Kava

4.0

I was so glad I found this book at the library. I was in a bad-book slump for the past few days, and I thought my eyes were going to be stuck permanently in rolling position due to the ridiculous thrillers I had been trying to read. Thankfully, A Perfect Evil yanked me out of my slump and immediately put me on the edge of my seat.

The subject matter was extremely difficult to read, because anything involving violence to children tears me apart. Also, there were some memories from one of the characters that made me have to stop for a bit. The case was extremely well-paced and suspenseful, though. I do have to say that I knew who the killer was almost from the moment he was introduced, but the author still kept things fresh with little surprises and reveals.

I could have done without the romance part of it, but that's more personal preference than anything else. I usually get annoyed and skim through mushy stuff anyway.

I really enjoyed this first book, and the best part is that it's a series and my library has all of them so I will definitely keep reading!

Highly recommended if you enjoy thrillers.
