Ghost Whisperer: Plague Room
by Steven Piziks
I won't give a synopsis, you can read that above. I was a fan of the show, but only recently have read the tie-in novels. Sadly & surprisingly there are very few. On the basis of a tie-in novel, this was a great read. Very easy & entertaining. The author's story deals with multiple ghosts vs the usual one that the show often features. They each were different; but the subplots all connected nicely.
I enjoyed the subplot of the medium coming to Grandview. The tension between Wendy & Melinda, due to the differences in "crossover" methods, felt very authentic and provided some great drama. This element would have made a good episode for the show to explore. The main story dealing with the house ghosts was a perfect setting although while the unfolding of their stories was spot on with the tone of the show, the wrap-up was rushed & 'off' somehow.
Overall, I believe the author has a solid & terrific grasp of how the show flows as well as his finger on the button of the character's personalities & voices. Mr. Piziks has provided a story that meshes well with the existing canon of the show & yet provides something fresh that reads like a new episode. This book is light reading and good entertainment for a couple of hours. If you like "Ghost Whisperer", this book is a must.
