Even If It Hurts by Sam Mariano

"She never had a single fucking thought about coming. That means I thought about her more than she thought about me today, and that’s unacceptable."

Trigger warning: non-con, rough sex, dubious actions, toxic relationship.

Help what a ride. The book was addicting and page turner. Dare is a lot to take in. While I see similarities between him and Carter (possessive, obsessed) he's deceitful, he has no limits. He does have a sort of empathy when it comes to Audrey tho.

Audrey... I don't mind doormats but this girl... She literally sees he's evil and that he perhaps is using her BUT she can't even refuse to have dinner with him. She's being insulted and thrown to the wolves , she cries and complains YET she does nothing to push him, not even once.

Overall I enjoyed the romance and how the story went. I was worried because of the reviews but I think you can perfectly see how Dare is into Audrey. I believe he's just untouchable and detachable and hard to read but I have to give that to the author because Dare being a sociopath or a psychopath, he doesn't feel love like any of us. It's not the same as a regular person would love, many would even say psychopaths and sociopaths don't fall in love, sociopaths can only feel a sort of fake love and something lighter. Dare might not understand love. It's hard to understand but to me it worked perfectly fine.

Now, i feel like there was a lack of answers when it comes to Dare. He obviously has something going on based on how he is and how restless he is but it wasn't explored or explained. Since the author said this couple journey ends here and they won't appear in the series again, we won't be getting any answers.

Sadly, i wished we had more Dare's background but I guess it won't happen.

If you loved Untouchable and there are no limits for you when it comes to readin, this is for you.
