As much as I love Kristin Hannah and historical fiction, I put this one off just a bit. There was a lot of hype around it, but I wasn't sure I'd be able to get into a long book focused on the Vietnam War and years following it. I was wrong. The book was eye opening, terrifying, heartbreaking, and uplifting all at once. In typical Kristin Hannah fashion, there were some parts of the story drawn out and others rushed through. The love interests are lack luster and frustrating at times, but that's not really the focus or point anyhow! Great historical fiction, highly recommend!
