The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

2.0

I loved the witchy spin put on nursery rhymes and viewing them from a different perspective. However, I feel like the book could've been multiple books and been better. I found myself willing to listen to OTHER things and OTHER books rather than finishing this one, which disappointed me. Harrow has a great way of retelling stories and fairy tales, so I've been looking forward to this book. I was also kind of distracted by the fluctuation in speech. Sometimes characters spoke like it was 1893 and sometimes it seemed like they spoke more like it was 2023. Then I'd end up down a mental rabbit hole of thinking how someone would insult another person or say "f- you" in 1893.
