The story alternates between two characters, Chloe and Dean. Chloe is trying to get on with her life but not really getting anywhere after recently being divorced and whilst she didn’t love her time at school, when she gets an invite to her school reunion, she decides to go as it will be a chance to see Nathan who she had a crush on.
Dean is a single dad who is desperately trying to make ends meet. I really felt for him as he isn’t having an easy time of it and just wants to do the best for his son. He seems to be getting hit by life from all sides and I was praying that things would get better for him.
It soon becomes apparent that someone doesn’t want Chloe at the reunion and it raised questions in my head as to who and why. There are some seriously unlikeable characters in the story who I was praying would get their comeuppance. I couldn’t wait for the night of the school reunion as you know that something bad is going to happen and boy did it have my heart racing.
The School Reunion is yet another brilliant psychological thriller by Shalini Boland. Delightfully dark and twisted and oh my goodness, those twists, especially the last one, my jaw was well and truly on the floor! The author never fails to shock me and I was on an absolute high after finishing it as the adrenaline took a while to settle down afterwards. You never know what to expect when you are turning the pages and I have to read them in one sitting as they are far too good to put down. Fabulous!
