[4 Stars] A Little Too Late had the potential to be a little Hallmark-y with its premise of the "big-shot Venture Capitalist returns home for the first time in 10 years to save his family's ski resort and runs into his ex-girlfriend (and love of his life) and begins to questions all of this life decisions since they split up." Thankfully, Sarina Bowen navigated the story of Ava and Reed by adding a good (but heart-breaking) backstory with external conflict in the present and realistic decision-making. While I thought the flashbacks contributed to Ava and Reed's past, I also didn't understand why they abruptly ended when they did.

Overall, a good first book in the Madigan Mountain series. On to the next one!
