Kokoro
by Natsume Sōseki
While this book was written in 1914, the translation is very readable and modern. I am impressed with the clarity of Sōseki’s writing and delivery; despite slow and thick subject matter, reading the book certainly didn’t feel like a chore. A few parts of this story gave me full on chills, while others caused me to zone out. Overall, I don’t feel like I really gained anything from this book, but I like Sōseki as an author and will be reading more of his work in the future.
