Hmm so, I finished this book a little while ago and have been marinating in my thoughts. Overall, I enjoyed it. However,

like others have said the ending fell very flat and felt extremely rushed. I would have preferred a much longer book with better pacing. Cecily’s explanation chapter was so much telling instead of showing when I feel the rest of the book built well on the showing versus telling. I’m torn because a bad ending can ruin an otherwise well-written book. I do wonder if it was left open for a sequel of some kind. If that were true I would probably read it as I enjoyed the world and the magic system within it.

I would read more books from this author.
