Swept Away by Beth O'Leary
2.0
I really wanted to love this one, but even from the outset I didn’t have much confidence - the synopsis didn’t excite me the same as Beth O’Learys other books so I guess I didn’t dive in head-first like I did the others.
I felt like the fact that so much time was spent on the houseboat, floating in the North Sea, made it feel incredibly slow at times. Naturally, the story had to be incredibly character driven and for me this didn’t land as well as I’d hoped.
Overall, I still can’t deny how easy it was to read and that I genuinely did enjoy it - but wanted to see way more intensity, depth and scenarios play out more.
The twist about Zeke being the father of Mae was unexpected, and even weirder that Lexi ended up pregnant at the end of it… so a 23 y/o had two kids from two best friends in their 30s…
