I'm not sure I understand the popularity of this book. It is a page turner but other than that... The characters are all one dimensional. The entire cast of female characters consists of: the prostitute, the mother, the scorned housewife and the bookish girl who doesn't know she's sexy. Bordering on misogyny.

You can fairly easily guess the murderer halfway through the book but have to get through another 5 hours for the reveal.

Paedophilia is treated as just another plot point.

The mix of romance and gruesome murder is not done well. The main character goes from finding out her sister died a horrible death and that her skin was ripped into to wanting to rip the clothes off DCI Ryan in a matter of seconds.

Would not recommend.
