The Diamond of Darkhold by Jeanne DuPrau

4.0

What a thoroughly satisfying conclusion to a very solid series. I admit, I was starting to feel that the books had become a little too simple and I wasn't sure I wanted to see them out, but I'm so glad I did! This finale felt intelligent, earned, and delightful. It wrapped up nicely without being too pat, and the characters really got a chance to shine.

The danger felt real but not overly epic, the lessons learned were more organic and less pedantic, and the end left little to the imagination without wrapping up too neatly or solving all the problems with one giant swoop.

Highly recommend.
