Lots of food for thought here. The book is 15 years old now so parts felt a little dated, maybe a little corny. I do feel the writer cherry-picks his examples - he cites figures from the performing arts a lot and I think their career paths will often look radically different from someone whose calling involves working with words or numbers, ie resembles more closely the "academic" subjects offered in school. I am interested in reading the follow-up book, though.
