There isn’t really any specific plot to this book - it follows a house in the north woods of New England over the time span of several centuries. We meet many characters who visit the area, their stories and legacies interwoven as we journey through the book. I never quite gelled with this, but I was compelled to keep reading. I wish that we spent longer with some characters and their stories, and the endings of some timelines felt very abrupt with some unanswered questions. The writing was varied and beautiful at times (interspersed with some poetry and pictures - I read this as an ebook and couldn’t always see the relevance of the pictures though). Intriguing concept, not quite executed as well as I wanted.
