The way this book is written is stunning to say the least. I had a difficult time with some of the characters and their choices but I think that’s purposeful and real. This is a book I’ll be thinking about for a long time both for it’s artistry, character study, and it’s themes. Warning (not spoiler): this is a book that makes you self reflect a lot on your own relationships and choices.
Moderate: Gun violence, Grief, Sexual content, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, Car accident, Medical trauma, Misogyny, Sexual harassment, Sexual violence, Death, Toxic friendship, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Antisemitism, Religious bigotry, Injury/Injury detail, Hate crime, Racism, Homophobia, and Adult/minor relationship
None of the negative things are supported by the author or by her writing. They are performed by bad or complex characters who are doing bad or complicated things. Dov is the worst and I wish he had got more comeuppance but i guess it’s realistic the the worst dudes get away with it and get labeled at charming but eww I hate him
