Beautiful Broken Love by Shanora Williams

5.0

Beautiful Broken Love is the perfect balance of all my favorite romance elements: yearning, robust support networks outside of the couple, fantastical love amidst real life tragedy.

Davina is still mourning the loss of her husband when she meets Deke, a basketball player she’s hoping to have serve as a representative for her skincare brand. When the two meet, sparks fly instantly, surprising them both. Davina isn’t sure she’s ready to explore anything, let alone something serious with a man like Deke, but he isn’t going to go down without a fight.

I loved reading their banter, and the careful push and pull of Deke’s advances as he learns to navigate the sensitive place Davina is in while protecting his own heart.

These two are so perfectly matched. Their senses of humor, their busy lifestyles, and the wounds they’re working to heal. I think their story is a beautiful example of what it looks like to gather strength and courage from the ones you love. I wouldn’t change a thing, this is for sure one of my favorite romances of the year so far and now I have to take a look back at Shanora Williams’ catalogue.
