World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

5.0

Let me preface this review with stating that I've never been a fan of zombies. I've always been made to watch zombie related movies as my partner loves them, so when I watched the World War Z movie and mildly enjoyed the aspect of zombie "research" (if it could be called that in movie) I heard the book offered a lot more in this area.

And boy did it!
Now I understand the authors disappointment with the outcome of said movie. The movie borrows the books name and that's about it.
Where the movie is a generic zombie thriller, the book takes place AFTER the zombie War, filled with interviews of civilians and military personnel who were on the front lines of the war.

Max Brooks does an amazing job of mixing real world historical politics into a world plagued with zombies. Reading about each countries reaction and retaliation to this threat was fascinating and felt all the more real when using real world factors in these decisions.

If you have any interest in disaster events, zombies or post apocalyptic - type events I would 100% reccomend this book.
