I didn’t want to leave these characters, awful as they are. i’m sure I’m missing out on some intertextuality because I’m not well read on my Classics, and I’m conflicted on my opinion on the ending. But this is a beautifully constructed novel, with an unreliable narrator that I’d need an essay to begin to analyse. Definitely one that would benefit from a reread in the future to fully appreciate.
